Great service, excellent food, awesome prices! The ChoriCheese duo is super yummy! My husband had the Mango Salsa Chicken, very good. I had the Pechuga Especiale, yummy also! Very fast lunch service and super friendly staff!

Not sure what the other people here saw in Patio Grill, but of the Mexican restaurants i've eaten at during my travels this ranks with the worst. A couple good things first: Support staff was quick to bring chips and salsa, drinks arrived quick. Bad things: Food was mediocre at best. Just average taste. Temperature was fine. Service was quick, however, the waiter was clueless on menu item recommendations and did not honor the happy hour drink prices until we mentioned it. It was "too late" for one of our checks and it had already been swiped... sure. Overall, not returning. Drive down the road to one of the other two Mexican restaurants.

This is a new restaurant for Union City. I think it opened in May (I THINK that's what my parents said). It is located in the building that tried to be Captain D's twice. The people that own Los Portales own it, but the food and atmosphere are different. I think they were going for an "upscale" or at least more intimate feel. They, of course, have the expected Mexican fare, but it's a little different from what you can get at Los. They have different kinds of burritos, e.g the California burrito which, if I recall correctly, has French fries in it. They serve breakfast burritos. Their entrees are a little different. What I'm getting at is this: Union City people, go try this place. I've gotten extremely picky since I've moved to the city, but I'll vouch for this restaurant. I loved Los first, but Patio Grill comes in as a very close second.

The chips arrived hot! The salsa had a kick but was bland otherwise. I had three enchiladas. The spinach was loaded with MSG, way too salty, the chicken was decent , and the shredded beef very good. I prefer black beans over refried. It's nice to have a choice. The black beans were decent. The service was about right, so three stars it is.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
